Day 110 – Easter

Sundays are for the spiritual piece of my blog.  Today is Easter and the single most important day in my Christian faith. Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

This weekend I had the amazing privilege of serving in our churches original presentation of a drama called, “The Final Moment” It was written around a song called Deathbed by Christian Rock group. Relient K.

The original song is a reflection of a mans life from his point of view in his last few hours. The drama was written around portions of the song to directly reflect the lyrics. Two adult children going through their estranged fathers journal learn things about their father that they never knew. It showed that every body is going through some battle even though we may not be able to see their struggle.

From his children’s point of view he had abandoned them and left them without a father. They were only able to learn the circumstances through his personal journal. They learned that things were not exactly what they had been allowed to believe.

The man in our drama was no different than the rest of us. He came from a broken home himself and grew up like any other kid in the world. He faced challenges and tough decisions. He made choices and not all of them were good. He wronged others and he himself was wronged. He turned to alcohol to numb the pain of his mistakes. He took some dark roads.

ForgivenThe great thing about mistakes and dark roads is that they lead to a place where there is only one way out. In our drama there was a powerful scene where he was at rock bottom. His wife had left with his children and he only had one place to turn. He turned to God.

There is not more beautiful thing in life than redemption and forgiveness. Our main character found both on the floor of his living room as he called out to Jesus.

Jesus is always listening for those calls. He is never busy and he will never be too busy. He wants, more than anything to hear that call. Easter is the celebration of the risen Christ. The example of true love for all. There is no dark place the He cannot retrieve you from and there is nothing He cannot forgive . . . nothing.
